Kru Samuel is one of the most successful martial artists in India. He is a black belt instructor in ten different martial arts styles: Karate – Shito Ryu, Karate – Shotokan, Taekwondo – WTF (Kukkiwon), Taekwondo – ITF, Tang Soo Do, Muay Thai & Muay Boran (Red-Yellow Mongkon), Kickboxing, Sport MMA, Japanese JuJitsu and Hapkido. He has fought or competed in at least a major event (state level and up) in all of these arts. He was inducted in the Hall of Fame by the JKD Federation of Asia (2014). He was among the ten international players (who brought laurels to the country) selected in Karnataka by the Karnataka Sports Network for a special felicitation. During the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the Indian Olympic Association selected him as one of the bearers of the Queen’s baton.
He is currently the National Technical Director in Muay Boran Association of India and World Muay Thai Organization India; the North East India Chief Delegate and National Head of Referee committee in India’s oldest and largest MMA body – the All India Mixed Martial Arts Association (AIMMAA). He is India’s second most experienced referee in both MMA and Muay Thai Boran, having refereed in about 400 sanctioned bouts in both disciplines. He has represented, and got medals in International events (World Championship, World Cup, International Open) in Muay Thai, Kickboxing, MMA, JiuJitsu, Tang Soo Do, Taekwondo and Dap Thai (Thai Sword System).
He is the first Indian to work as a referee in an international event in both MMA (IMMAF – Amateur MMA World Championship 2015) and Muay Boran (WMBF – World Championship 2016).
